How do I remove Norton Toolbar permanently from Firefox?

It's been around 2 months that whenever I try to disable the Norton toolbar from firefox it disables it. But when I shut down my pc and turn on firefox again the norton toolbar appears again. How do I make it so the norton toolbar is permanently disabled from firefox? I dislike the toolbar very much and I would like it removed. Thanks :)

Norton toolbar provides different security features such as Antiphishing, Browser protection, Password manager etc. It's not recommended to disable it. However if you still don't want it, please try the following solutions.

There are different workarounds

I.Try deleting the extension files (responsible for compatibilty between Firefox and Norton toolbar)

1.Open your profile folder: Open Firefox 3.x At the top of the Firefox window, Click on the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information.... The Troubleshooting Information tab will open. Under Application Basics, click on 'Open Containing Folder' From the menu at the top of the Firefox windowbar, select File and then select the Exit menu item. 2.Delete the following files: extensions.ini extensions.cache extensions.rdf

3.Restart your System

II. Renaming coFFPlg.dll

Open windows Explorer and browse to C:\Program Files\N360\Engine\<version no> & rename coFFPlg.dll, reboot your system

III. Try the solution given here and here

Karthik:

Sorry, but deleting extensions.ini is a cataclysmically stupid solution:  Deleting extensions.ini would nuke ALL extensions a user has on their Firefox.  The goal here is to remove ONLY the Norton ones.  See the script/solution here:
