How do I stop Norton from constantly scanning my drives?

My computer is a Mac (late 2013), running macOS Big Sur, 11.6.8. I am using Norton 360 8.8, build 122.

How do I stop Norton from constantly scanning my drives? I searched, and all I could find were instructions for a PC. The PC instructions have options not available on a mac. Going to Device Security > Settings > Protect My Mac > Automatic Scans, I can select the drives not to scan, but that has no effect. Norton still scans the drives.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello mcMan,

Thanks for posting in Norton forum.

Could you tell us what kind of scan is constantly running on your drives. So that we can help you.

Norton has Automatic Scan ( scan automatically initiates only when we do a download/copy a file.), Manual Scans (like Quick Scan, Full Scan, File Scan), Scheduled Scan, Idle scan.

Adding exclusion in Device Security > Settings > Protect My Mac > Automatic Scans, will only stop Automatic scan running in that excluded location.

Thanks,
