My computer is freezing up and somone suggested that I disable my Norton Security while video editing so it won't try scanning my video files while working. Can anyon tell me how to do that? I just spent the last 30 mins. trying to find a way and give up?
Thanks so much for any response here.

Hi Videogalnc,
Welcome to Norton Community!
We do not recommend disabling Norton Security product completely as it will leave your computer open to vulnerabilities, especially when you have connected to the Internet. I would suggest you to go through any of the following options first:
- Enable Quite Mode and add your video editing program/software to the User-Specified Programs list for Quite Mode.
https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=v24647741_NAV_Retail_2012_en_us
- Add the video files to Scan Exclusion list
https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=v64044912_EndUserProfile_en_us
If the problem persists and if you still need to disable it, you can right-click on the Norton icon in your system tray(bottom-right corner), and select the options to Disable Auto-Protect & Disable Smart Firewall. This will completely turn off the Norton Security product.
Thanks,
