Can anyone tell me how to prevent the Norton Insight background task from running daily on my PC? I've disabled the Insight Protection (Settings | Computer Settings | Insight Network | Off) but when I look under the Norton Tasks to check the background tasks it shows that Norton Insight is still running on a daily basis for about 3 minutes. I want to turn the Insight Network off because it appears that it's briefly hi-jacking my system - my PC either freezes or slows down dramatically while ccsvchst.exe is running in the background.
I've also disabled Norton Community Watch (Settings | Miscellaneous Settings | Community Watch | Off) and Automatic LiveUpdates (Settings | Computer Settings | Updates | Automatic LiveUpdate | Off) and they don't appear to be the culprits. I run Norton Insight (Application Ratings) periodically to check for trusted files - my scan performance profile is set to Standard Trust and it's currently reporting that 71% of my applications are trusted.
It may be coincidental, but the problem with ccsvchst.exe affecting my system performance seemed to start when I updated to NIS 2010 v 17.6.0.32. I used to have a similar problem with NIS 2009 but the upgrade to NIS 2010 seemed to solve this problem until v 17.6 was released.
