I’ve been sitting here on hold for Norton support for an awful long time and I give up! I registered my Norton’s account, went to the page to disable the auto renewal and looked for the Automatic Renewal link but it isn’t there. I sat on hold forever waiting for support but no one ever answered, I downloaded the instant chat program and ‘poof’ it was gone. I give up…I just want to cancel the quto renewal option…I don’t want to renew my Norton’s subscription when it comes due and I don’t want to be charged. HELP!
You have to do it with Customer Support and normally CHAT is the painless quickest method. Holds can be excessive on Phone as you know. You could try email but I've heard people say that tends to limit what you can ask to certain categories.
Here's my boileerplate on contacting Customer Support
To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there.
You can choose CHAT or Email; phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.
Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.
I don't know what went poof! but perhaps try again.
Please let us know although we can't deal with commercial matters here.
Welcome, justanormalgirl. Here is a link to an auto renewal FAQ page. On that page you will find a link to a page that will allow you to opt out of auto renewal. They will send you an e-mail confirmation after you cancel. FAQ
Thanks for that information and the link.
I see there is even a link to a site where you can cancel the autorenewal if for some reason your product is not listed in the Manage Subscriptions part of your Norton Account.
Hi justanormalgirl,
Along with the great advise already offered...may I respectfully urge you to go to your Norton Account
> https://www.mynortonaccount.com/amsweb/default.do < view your Profile ~ check your Billing Information and remove all Credit Card info etc. under Billing Information.

Thanks for the link Turbo, it did show to go to MyNorton Acct.com and I was able to turn off the auto update for my subscriptions. Not that I won’t renew, as the 2010 version is excellent so far, but I would rather keep track of that sort of stuff myself, money wise.
