How do I unblock a port in Norton security suite?

I recently got an all in one hp printer with wireless capabilities ...I am having trouble installing it with the wireless feature, first it was saying something about my firewall so I messed around with it a little bit and finally got passed that point but now it says

"Problems encountered while configuring your printer. You may experience limited functionality such as faxing (if applicable) and accessing the network toolbox.

If you are using firewall software, verify TCP port 9220 is unblocked from your PC to your printer at 192.168.2.3.

Status communication problems detected. Your PC may not be able to retrieve the printer status and ink levels properly.

If you are using firewall software, verify UDP port 161 is unblocked from your PC to your printer at 192.168.2.3.

To fix the issue(s) try to power your printer off and on."

I am using Norton Security Suite v6.4.0.9 I got it through my ISP which is Comcast How do I do what it's telling me to do? any help would be greatly appreciated

P.S I had one prior to this one that I had issues with also, when I would try to print something with the wireless feature a lot of the time it said "printer is offline" how can I also fix this problem?

Hi AlexSegura,

I am not very knowledgeable in the realm of firewalls/wireless printers - however I will ask someone else who may be able to help you with your wireless printer situation to have a lookk at this thread.

One thing I did notice is that you are not using the most current version of Norton Security Suite. Pplease folow the instructions here  to upgrade to the latest version.

Hi AlexSegura,

First, this may not be a firewall issue, but it can become a firewall issue if settings are changed improperly - so if you have made any modifications to the Norton Firewall, please use the Firewall Reset option in the firewall settings to restore the firewall to its default configuration.  The Smart Firewall should allow you to communicate with the printer, as long as the network is set up correctly and is secure - it is almost never necessary to manually configure ports in the Norton Firewall, which is designed to do this automatically.

Once this is done, check the Norton Network Security Map and make sure that your wireless network is shown as having a Network Trust Level of "Shared" ("Full Trust" will also work but is less secure).  You will need to have encryption enabled for your wireless in the router settings for Norton to assign these trust levels.  Then follow the manufacturer's instructions for the printer.  I know some printers do have issues with software firewalls that can limit their functionality, so it would be helpful if you could provide the model number of the printer.

If you still have issues with the printer you can temporarily disable the Norton Firewall for testing.  If that fixes things, then it is a firewall problem - if not, it is a networking problem and you will need to verify that your wireless setup is properly configured.
