I'm not sure if I want to install 2012 just yet, although I have already purchased the retail boxed version. So, how do I use the 2012 key to extend existing 2011 subscription?
Thanks,
BGC

Hi BGC,
This is very important. Entering a new product key will not extend your current subscription. It will wipe out any remaining days you have left and start at 366 days. (This is different from a Renewal Code which will extend a subscription.)
The suggested method is to enter the new key a day or two before the current subscription is about to expire.
In NIS 2011, open the main interface and at the bottom click Renew. This will open a window where you can enter the new product key.
So all I have to do is enter the key from NIS 2012 into the existing install of 2011? No other hoops to jump through? BGC

Hi BGC,
That's all there is to it. Just understand that this will not be an extension of your existing subscription. This will start a new subscription. That means that any remaining days on your existing subscription will be lost. To minimize this loss I recommend that you wait until there are only a few days left before you enter the new key.
There are reports that if you contact customer support via their chat here:
