How do you clear history for ‘Silent Mode’ entries?

Is there a fix available yet for clearing logs for silent mode entries?  Mine is filling up fast.  I can clear all the other logs, but not the ‘Silent Mode’ ones.

I’m referring to NAV2009.

Can any one help?

Hi Kimmy,

As of now there is no option available to remove or clear the silent mode history. Symantec is aware of this issue and will be resolving it in future releases.

Vineeth P S--

I suggest you to check this thread also, which will give you a temporary solution for this.

Hi Kimmy,

Please read the below information from the related thread in this forum:

There is a way to temporarily clear out all existing Silent Mode entries. Unfortunately, after you clear them out, when you use Silent Mode again, the entries start being logged again.  So, when they've built up to the point that you're sick of looking at them (and it sounds like you're there already :smileywink:),  you can do this:

Boot into Safe Mode. Use Windows Explorer to search for the file:  "SMode.dat",  it's buried deep in the innards of Documents and Settings.  Then delete SMode.dat.

Remember, it will be gone from History, no entries.  BUT, when you start using Silent Mode the entries will start accumulating again.

Thanks Guys,

Thanks for the prompt replies.  I found the “SMode.dat” file in

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Norton{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\Norton\Logs</SPAN>

I then realised that I didn’t need to re-boot in safe mode to delete it.  All I did was use a program called ‘Unlocker v1.8.7’ to delete it from within explorer.  I normally use Unlocker to delete ‘Index.dat’ from my cookies folder.

Unlocker is a free program and you can download Unlocker v1.8.7 from:-

I’ve now managed to clear ALL my logs.

Thanks for the help and support.
