I agree. But the reason that I asked the question was because I wondered if the OP knew of a use of it that I did not know.
shannon s then moved my post from the OP's thread to this isolated thread. (Which didn't help answer my question to the OP.) Now I don't know if the OP knows of some use for it that neither of us has thought of.
Since many of us agree that it's just cosmetic, and since some have identified it as one of the reasons that Liveupdate fails, then the real question is why Symantec leaves it in the product?
Perhaps the Marketing guys think it's cool.
It moves, it flashes on and off, it doesn't do anything.
