Would somebody be good enough to explain how the Norton File Insight works.
I have two main computers
1. Toshiba Satelite Laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate and am using Norton 360 the latest version patched yesterday.
On this laptop I have one file where the Trust Level is bad - file name mfc45.dat. It seems to have come with a program I probably downloaded and tried although no longer have it installed called System Mechanic. It is situated in Windows/SysWOW64.
I feel like just deleting the offending file, would somebody be able to let me know if this would be ok, please?
I have a number of files which are unproven one of which is - file name psires.dll. The is in part of the Secunia PSI program I run, this is also on my Surface 2 Pro I use running Windows 8.1 Pro although I use Norton Internet Security on this machine.. I have run PSI for many years and I cannot see that Secunia would be a problem.
The small number of other files which are unproven seems to be Microsoft files:
visualstudio.tools.office.tools.hostadapter.version10.0.ni.dll
and another to do with Clip Art.
I notice some files the Trust Level is only good for instance files associated with Winpatrol which as far as I know is from a fairly well respected source and a program I have used for almost 10 years with no problem.
I appreciated there is an option to User Trust files but I would not feel confident to do this.
Many thanks for any help on any of the above queries.
Michael
