How does one open port addresses

I need to opne a port number, not by adding a "url" - I want to insert a number, and open it. TCP or whatever.

Well  spoke to a chat tech. Instead of telling me hoiw, or sending me to a unrelatewd link (happens a lot), he wanted to log in to my system. The last time I let a Norton tech on my system, I had to restore over 400 gig in software! Norton, access my computer? Not!

I have disabled Nortons Smart Firewall (oxymoron), and opened Windoze firewall, and Norton will not leave me alone about this.

I told the tech I, me, moi, myself, wanted to open the ports. He insisted that he log in and do it.

Someone, pahlease prtovide a link as to how to OPEN/CLOSE any port in NIS2012. All the other answers are not answers for 2012, and none fit 2012 - not after many things were removed or moved.

Now, thanks Norton, I am 16 hours behnd in my work. 199 days remaining - and counting.

Hello INIC

Please try following the instructions from this website to open ports

http://www.ehow.com/how_6849775_open-using-norton-internet-security.html

Thanks floplot - I had found that prior to asking here. It is step 5 that made no sense. I nwould have to add every web site on the Internet just to have 2 ports open all the time.

I tried Norton's fake human - the oine they call Nathan, but he couldn't find his behind with both hands glued to it.

I tried Chat, but the tech wanted to log in to my computers and do it for me. He thought I should not know how to do it - such things are for 'exzperts' only.

I got through on voice support, and the fellow and walked though it. Done.

Thanks. Your link helps but again, Step 5 requires a web url - all *8.05 billion pages of them. :smileysurprised:
