Is it possible to see the log file while a scan is running so I can identify what areas have been scanned and what is still left to do.
I have various hard drives which I use at different times and which grow and shrink very frequently so I cannot really identify based on past scans how long a scan will take and also how long it has to go once running. Today doing various scans and would really like to see such detail so I know whether to stop the scan as I want to do some other work or leave it as it only has an hour or so to go for example.
My scans run for many hours often longer than over night as there are many many files on some of my drives as they contain large software installs which can contain millions of files.
On Unix I can tail log files that are being written to and also copy them to another file while they are being used so I can get a good estimate of how much is still to go for installs and other
Does Norton allow me to do this. I cannot find a text log file that is being written to while the scan is running.
I can see the scan summary which tells you fuile currently being scanned but as files do not seem to be scanned in order alphabetically I cannot predict how many more to go.
I have used Norton for many years and have never really had any issues with virus's at all in that time so I like the product and really trust it which is more important.
Thanks very replying to my post and so quickly too.
Is there any technical documentation on the order that the scan runs at all or what method is used to determine the order so I can determine that for example it has completed fully the C drive while norton is scanning drive Z for example.
