After years of using Password Manager to auto fill logins with just my 4 digit PIN, suddenly I am required to use a fingerprint to access the vault. I don’t want that and it won’t accept my fingerprint so it no longer auto fills my passwords. How do I deactivate the fingerprint requirement? Thanks
I do not have an Android device with fingerprint reader, so all I can do is suggest how to look for the required setting.
Look in Android Settings for Security or Login settings. See if there is a section specifically for fingerprint access. If you find that, you may be able to choose access by app. If not there, look in the Apps section and look through all the settings for Norton Password Manager to see if there is an settings for login type.
EDIT
See this Norton Support article and check the section "Set up biometric authentication on my mobile device" That shows how to set up the feature, so you should be able to disable the feature from that same information.
P.S. I have an android phone (Samsung Galaxy)
All I can do to bypass fingerprint is to choose Cancel then choose PIN. But that’s a real bother every time I want to autofill a password using a PIN, especially when I never had to do that before. Settings has no option to turn the fingerprint requirement off or to set PIN as the default.
What device and OS version are you using?
You should not be 'required' to use the fingerprint access. When the fingerprint cannot be read, that might be an issue with the registration of the fingerprint in the OS settings. Does it work for any other features on the device?
When the fingerprint is not accepted by Norton, is there not an option or message to use the PIN instead? Once you can get into Norton, you should be able to access the app's settings and look for the login options. You should be able to turn off the Fingerprint option there.
