How to get Norton Insight to trust files?

Ever since I installed NIS 2009 a few days ago, my computer will no longer recognize my Zune player.  I don’t know for sure, but I suspect it’s because a number of Zune files on my computer are not “trusted”.  I have asked Insight to scan those specific files, but I continue to receive a “not trusted” status.  With my old version of NIS, I used to receive “a dll server is attempting to connect to the internet” warning (or something along those lines, and the option to allow the connection to proceed.  I don’t receive any of those requests any longer, and it’s frustrating.  Have I identified the problem correctly, and how can I fix it?  Thanks!

Insight checks running processes with Norton’s data base. If a processes isn’t in the data base then you have to wait till it becomes available. No biggie. No harm.

Hello sandymom,

Norton Insight will not stop your programs from running. It simply will recoginise which process are trusted, and which ones it needs to scan every time a scan is ran. It will not block any processes.

You might want to check your Firewall rules and make sure that program control is set to allow you zune software to access the internet.

Hi Sandy,

This may be an issue with the network trust level.   It needs to be set to "Shared" or "Full Trust".

  1. From the Main UI, launch "View Home Network"
  2. On the left hand side of the map, click on the[Edit] under Network Details
  3. What does the "Trust Level" indicate?
  4. If it's set to Protected or Restricted, click [Edit] and set it to "Shared" or "Full Trust"

Please let me know if that solves the issue.

Thanks,
