How to install the English version of NIS 2011

I'am a NIS user for a couple of years now and although living in the Netherlands I am always using the English versions. I have just upgraded to NIS 2011 using NISDownloader.exe and to my surprise the Dutch version was installed.

The sofrtware seems to run just fine, but I wan't an English version. All the software on my PC is in English. Any tips how to achieve this?

IIRC this option has been changed with 2011 versions. You may get the english version from a local reseller for example.

One of them in your area is computer collectief in Amsterdam, that's where I buy my software too. (Ik gebruik ook liefst engelstalige versies - I too prefer english versions) They mainly deliver dutch versions but you can order english versions too. The one you need will be avialable around next weekend. You can pre-order also and pay online. Another possibility is to have them send an email to you when the product is available without any obligations.

Hi marpol,

Please do the following to remove the Dutch version and install the English version:

First, download and save the English NIS 2011 installation package to your computer from this link:
http://www.norton.com/nis11

Although your product key and subscription days should be picked up automatically by the English version, please keep your product key handy just to be on the safe side. You can fetch your product key from your Norton account:
http://www.mynortonaccount.com/

Proceed to remove the Dutch NIS 2011 via the control panel ("Programs and Features" in Vista and Windows 7). For security reasons, please disconnect from the internet (unplug the cable). After the Dutch version has been removed and your computer has been rebooted, install the English version. During activation, NIS 2011 will ask you to connect to the internet - you can connect again to the web at this point. After installation, run LiveUpdate at once to obtain all the latest updates.

Please tell us how it goes - thanks :-)

Thanks for your suggestions. Here is what I did:

- Downloaded the English version of NIS 2011 via the link you provided

- Downloaded Norton Removal Tool 2011 which is more thorough than uninstalling via control panel

- Backed up Identity Safe, just to be sure

- Unplugged the ethernet cable from the router

- Run the removal tool and restarted Windows

- Installed NIS 2011

- Re-plugged ethernet and run Live Update

NIS runs fine. Subscription status, product key and Identity Safe data were picked-up OK.

Thanks a lot once more,

marpol

Hi marpol,

Glad everything went smoothly, although since you were reinstalling the same version of NIS (the only difference being the language), the Norton Removal Tool would not have been necessary ;-))

marpol,

Glad it worked out but as said using the NRT was not necessary and in fact is now dis-recommended unless something is really wrong since there have been a few cases where using it actually created a problem with the subsequent installation that had to be cured by repeating the installation and following instructions <gdr>
