How to mark an application as trusted? (avoid: "Unauthorized access blocked"-entries)

Noticed a number of "Unauthorized access blocked (Access Process Data)" entries in the history.

These are applications I use day in day out. They are perfectly okay.

The response may be that I should not worry, but what is the use then of these 'alarming' things .

Maybe if the application could be added in a 'trusted' list, these entries will be avoided and only the ones that are important will show up.

Am a newbie. Am not sure how to add these applications to a trusted list.

IF...  it exists, of course..

Thanks!

The tamper protection in Norton products is just protecting the Norton files from outside changes. It seems that your programs are trying to read or access some file that is protected.

As Roboform does similar functions to Norton's Identity Safe, it is possible that both programs access some common files, that Norton now protects.

Even trusting the file would not change this logging.

As you say, The response may be that I should not worry, but what is the use then of these 'alarming' things .  The logging if the attempts actually lets you know the product is doing what it should.

Hi thewul,

It doesn't matter if a process is trusted or not, Norton does not permit any outside agent to access Norton files or processes - even Windows processes are blocked from doing so.  Your PC security needs to be isolated from any sort of outside interference.  I also would not characterize these events as "alarming," since they are only recorded in your logging history for reference, and Norton does not generate alerts in connection with them.

@SendOfJive and peterweb

Thank you both for the quick feedback. Okay, will leave these 'history-entries' as they are. These tools are launched and are working the way they should, without any problem.

Oh, one last thing and just out of curiosity: you both say that these entries show up because Norton files or processes are being accessed.

Whilst being an end-user, lacking any expertise and using NIS as it is,  I would rather expect the entries would be showing up in case Windows files/processes were accessed, instead of Norton-ones?

Norton Product Tamper Protection is not a malware detection tool, it is a barrier that prevents intentional or accidental interference with Norton's operations by any outside agent, good or bad.  Auto-Protect is the suite of Norton components that monitors the system as a whole for malicious actions.
