Ok about to install NIS2011
I have been told that the feature
Automatic Download of New Version
is automatically set to ON
So since NIS2012 is out, how do I stop 2011 from moving to 2012?
Is there a way to access the settings before activating the product ?
Hi Calls,
You don't need to worry about having to rush to disable the option. Even with it enabled it will still prompt you about actually installing it. The setting simply tells the program to download new product versions in the background, but doesn't automatically apply them without your permission.

See one of your other posts on this where I've gone into this.
When you have installed 2011 -- and you need not rush -- click on Settings and find the entry for Automatic Updates -- set it to OFF and then when the popup comes set that to Permanently if that is what you want .....
I'm in 2012 already so I can't telll you just where in settings this is but you can find it and you will learn about the system by looking for it ! <g>
Yes we do have an option in the settings to disable the automatic download feature.
Click on settings - > Miscellaneous settings - > First option says Automatic download of new version.
This should be on be defalult.Change that into OFF.
Thanks. I thought it would be odd to not be able to decline tthe upgrade
How long woulld I have after installing NIS2011 to disable the automatic download of new product?
Minutes?
Hours?
Days?
I really dont want it even downloaded on my PC at this time
Hi Calls
I think you are sweating over this too much.
Just go in after install and turn it off. It will not download that quickly. No one can tell u an exact time.
If u are really concerned then disconnect from the Internet before installing and until u turn this option off.
Best wishes
Allen
Hello Calls
As answered already in one of your other threads, I would turn it off as soon as your product has been activated. You don't have to take the chance and have it downloaded automatically. Even if it won't install without your permission, the version that would download shortly would be the current version that just came out. If you are going to update to NIS 2012 in a year from now, there is no sense of keeping an older version of NIS 2012 on your computer now. When you are ready to update to NIS 2012, you will probably buy the CD as you have done with NIS 2011.
If you should happen to decide to try NIS 2012, you know you can always buy the CD or use the link from the Forum when asked for it.
Thanks everyone. Sorry to try to pin it down to minutes/hours/days
Really just wanted to get some sense of how much time I would have before it "downloaded".
Moot point now as I have it set to off.
Thank you all ffor your help
