How to stop Norton 360 background tasks when I want to resume work after inactivity?

Once Norton 360 starts background tasks during inactivity, it uses practically all the CPU on my computer.

When I want to start working again after inactivity, is there a way to force Norton to stop the background tasks so that I can use my computer again normally?

 

The only way I found until now, is to a forced shut-down of my computer and then restart.

This is however very unhandy when I was in the middle of doing something before the inactivity period.

There is an option under settings called Silent Mode. Enabling this will temporarily disable Norton 360 tasks (including background tasks) and pop-ups.
