If I open my laptop, I will have / must see what Norton has to sell me today, before I can start my work! And that's not enough, 30 minutes go by and a pop up will tell me my brand new computer can be much faster if I repair unknown, unspecified registry errors for which I will need to buy some more from Norton decline by 7 steps and then go back to work. But then that cannot be enough. 4 hrs later or next day keep doing it. Oh yes, there is a button which says do not show this again and that is just a scam to take me to the list of ALL other services I can pay to Norton for whether or not I want them! What a pain!
Can we just get the services that I am signing up for and unsubscribe for ANY/ALL other options, services, help, promotions? Thank you very much in anticipation of relieving me for this constant pain of leaving with Norton abuse.
I'm still using NIS (refuse to upgrade to the bloatware that is 360), but with the settings suggested in the previous post, you should be able to get rid off the marketing "notifications". Have not received one in ages.
I agree. You shouldn't have to do this. I only just came to norton from kaspersky and I am not happy with it either.
Problem is - finding an AV that doesn't do it and still has 99.9x detection rates and is cheap as chips if you can be bothered (or are allowed to) to get it for £15 a year on Amazon and others :-(
Thanks for the help in turning this off. However, I am still letting my subscription lapse when it comes time for renewal. I have been a loyal Norton customer for decades. I still remember Norton Utilities for DOS. But this is too painful and too customer unfriendly. I won't continue to give money to a company that treats paying customers this way.
I feel embarrased (but very very happy) because for some reason I get no popups, nags or anyting at all. I have N360 Delux and Don't have NU.
I have Adblock Plus installed in Chrome and ONLY the Norton Safe Web Plugin from Norton (not safe search etc.) and also:
Idle Time Optimiser = Off
Report Card = Off
Norton Community Watch = Off
Norton Task Notification = Off
Performance Monitoring = Off
Special offer Notification = Off
Backup Off
Software Updater - Don't Auto Update - Added all programs to "Do not scan" at the beginning - This one nearly made me ditch Norton but I hope that they will see sense and allow us to disable this - If not then I will not renew in a year.
VPN Off (most of the time)
If you play with the settings you can get rid of all the crap for sure. All I wanted was a decent AV for a good price (£20 on Amazon) to replace Kaspersky (as I wanted to make sure that Putin could not press the kill button on my computer if Mr. Kaspersky was ordered to do so).
I'm a computer repair tech.
I also have Malwarebytes running in parallel (realtime protection) and mutual exclusions and have not had any problem with Malwarebytes playing nicely with Norton). I tested this carefully 1st as I would not have gone with Norton if it did not work with Malwarebytes Pro (as I have a Malwarebytes Pro lifetime licence) and I MBAM has saved me on a number of occasions.
Hi, Open Norton 360 in Classic View, Top Right go into Settings --> Administrative Settings : things can turn off : Report Card, Norton Community Watch, Task Notification, Special Offer Notification.
Now I do agree with you as I keep getting nagged to buy Norton Utilities and I freaking own it. It was part of the agreement to shut me up from nagging about the discontinuation of NU16. NU17 (or actually it has no name) Is uncontrolled Junk which N360 keeps spamming my each time I turn the system on. Stop It !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
