How to use new product key from purchased disc?

I am using Norton Anti virus 2010, and it is expiring shortly.  I purchased a three user disc and I would like to renew my subscription, sinc my present version is up to date and working perfectly. I would prefer not to delete it and reinstall from the disc.  Is it possible to apply the new product key to my preexisting product?  If possible how would I do it?
