HP Drive Encryption and Norton

I have recently fitted my Norton 360 Version 4.0 on to my HP laptop which is a Compac 6530b which has HP professional innovations built in. These include HP protect tools. When I loaded Norton all sorts of problems occur at start in and I get a range of messages informing me that specific folders cannot be found. There are about 7/8 of these and eventually when I close them all everything seems to be OK. I am going to uninstall Norton to see if this helps but thought I should check with you first to see if there is a remedy.
