HTTP Fake Antiviurs Install Request 4 and popups

Hello,

Whilst browsing the web my browser suddenly went blank and 360 popped up to alert me an intrusion had been blocked. I went into security history to see it was "HTTP Fake Antivius Install Request 4" and that no action was needed.

I updated and performed a full scan just as a precaution (in normal mode). Nothing was found.

Then, this morning when I switch on my computer I see a popup titled "Information Regarding Web Browsers". Does anyone know what this popup is?

It seems a little coincidental to me and  has me wondering whether something malicious has got onto my system.

I use:

N360 V3.8.0.41

XP SP3

Also have Malwarebytes installed.

Thanks.

This alert indicates that your Intrusion  prevention component in your Norton 360 product has successfully detected and blocked an attempt to access your computer. Norton 360 had the corresponding attack signature(updated) which helped it to block the intrusion:

The attempt can come from a legitimate source such as a web enabled program that you use. It can also come from an unwanted intrusion  attempt. Confirm whether the attacking IP address is really attempting to hack into your computer(may be some malicious program in that computer attempts without the knowledge of the user), your ISP can help you better in that. You can run scan in Safe Mode to double-check that your computer is safe.

I think you are referring to the Browser choice that does not look very official but must be issued by Microsoft I think.

except I cant seem to access the webpage but please try.

In a non managed environment it still got downloaded as part of updates on all my machines.

Very annoying.

You may need to remove the entry from registry by changing the dword
