Ok I had a few bad viruses other day. Had to reformat computer cause it wiped out everything on my computer. I got this fixed ,reinstalled norton internet security 2007. My computer is being constantly attacked by a http misleading application. When i start windows it says antimalguard can not be installed. This is a virus that norton isn't picking up. So every hour my computer freezes as this virus attacks it, which is blocked my Norton. Can't it just stop it from being on my disk? What can i do to get rid of it? I don't want to reformat again. Please help this is driving me crazy. The destination address of the virus is at
download.antimalwareguard.com
How come this is always attacking my computer? Always the same one, Do I have something on my computer making this happen?
Please help
What is you O.S.?
What is the exact name of this Virus/Intrusion Attempt?
I would try these Steps first:
01. Update Norton Product via LiveUpdate.
02. Run Full System Scan in Safe Mode. Before doing this, make sure every box is Checked in Manual Scanning, which can be found in the N.I.S. Options. If you do not know how to do this, please ask before attempting.
03. Upgrade free to N.I.S. 2008, although N.I.S. 2009 is going to be Released in September 2008.
symantec Security Response has Modified this Detection, HTTP Misleading Application Detection, to the Intrusion Prevention Signatures on Wednesday, August 13, 2008.
A copy of the free version of the AntiMalwareGuard program has been submitted to Symantec Security Response for review. There’s no guarantee that a response by way of definitions will address your particular issue, due to possible file differences, so if you are able to submit additional samples, that would be helpful. You can make use of https://submit.symantec.com/websubmit/retail.cgi to send samples to Symantec for analysis.
New definitions are available from Symantec which may be of use to you. Please download ftp://ftp.symantec.com/AVDEFS/norton_antivirus/rapidrelease/symrapidreleasedefsi32.exe. This executable contains virus definition updates which detect the previously submitted AntiMalwareGuard under the name AntiSpywareMaster. If you apply these definitions and scan your system, please let us know if it finds anything.
If neither these definitions nor the suggestions provided to you resolve your issue, we would need to obtain the problematic files from your system. You could send these to us via the link I provided in the previous message. In return you will receive an email message with a Tracking number. Feel free to post the Tracking number in this email and Security Response can analyze your files.
Wow
That's very fast work. Well done Symantec
This is a strange one. Had a Virus/Intrusion Attempt (Http misleading application) alert pop up while on Monster.com trying to divert me to mytube4.com which I’m assuming is not a good place! Attacking computer was CHRIS 192.xxx.x.xxx which was my PC’s IP address! Googled it and found same info/problem not just on this board but other places? Have latest defintions & such. What gives? Thanks for help.

This may be caused by a Threat on your computer or being involved in malcious activity?
I would suggest Updating your Product and running a Full System Scan in Safe mode until some can give exact details of this.
s.I.P.S. has Blocked this Attack from Attacking your computer; please check your Logs and you should see that it Blocked this Attack, if not, report back here.
When I surf the internet every time, I will attack by http misleading application but my norton blocked it. A pop up with this address http://protectyworkpc.cXm/2009/1/freescan.php?id=770522166386 is shown. It wasn't like that last time. This also make my internet explorer not responding when pop up. Although i run a full system scan in safe mode and disable system restore for many time but it did'n appear any viruses or others when the scan is finish. But i'm sure that some viruses or spyware is in my computer, what should I do? Anyone can help please?
[edit: broke link to malware.]
The link you've posted is for a rouge antivirus program that contains a variety of spyware, downloaders, etc. I've reported it to the moderators.
Your Norton product protected you by immediately disconnecting you from that web site.

Mike
ckh890 ...... review the post by Phil_D above. MalawareBytes is awsome.
Phil, I will try your remove virus software, is it just follow the prosedure there? ckh890
Hi ckh890,
Sorry for the late response but I was out for a while.
The FREE version of Malwarebytes is an on-demand scanner which does not run in the background. Therefore it will not interfere with Norton; but it also does not give you realtime protection like Norton. It only checks for issues after the fact when you run a scan with it. Once you have downloaded and installed it, be sure to check for updates.
If you suspect a problem, run a Full System Scan in Safe Mode with Norton and then with Malwarebytes. It is best if you unplug from the internet when running these types of diagnostic scans.
Wow thanks. Malwarebytes detects some virus that NIS2007 didn’t detect it. No more pop up and other things attack my computer now. Thanks Phil.

Hi, my subscription have 383 days left but i forgot the renewal code. I just have the product key of N.I.S2007. Can i still can upgrade to N.I.S2009? Is this free of charge?
May I ask how to save a product key?
As long as you have the Product Key, you should be able to Upgrade; however, if you are concerned that you may need the Re-newal Code, I would suggest you contact Customer Services.
Just go to that Web Site, Enter your E-mail Address and choose a Password.
And yes, it is Free of Charge.
