I had numerous high-severity Norton error reports, and my Password Manager was not working. I also had hundreds of Norton Community Watch Feedbacks and Statistical Submission reports submitted within the last ten days. It started after several high and medium intrusion attempts and IPS Detections. I have never seen so many Statistical Submission reports and Norton Community Watch Feedbacks in a row on my Security History log. The pictures I attached to this post are examples from this log.
I decided to uninstall my Norton 360 and reinstall it. I chose the option for Norton to remember my settings before uninstalling. After reinstalling, everything looked good, and I did a full scan. I then looked again at the Security History log, and hundreds of Statistical Submission reports were being submitted on various items.
Is it common to have over a hundred (I did count them) of these reports being submitted after reinstalling? Is it also common to have this type of Security History log activity after an intrusion attempt? Should I be concerned that my computer or firewall settings have been compromised?
Thank you for any comments that can help me understand my Security History log entries.
Following up on everything. First, are there moderators or anyone from Norton that answers any of the questions? I did a search on "Statistical Submission," and although I found many questions, I found none with a definite answer.
After I did my clean install of Norton, I did get some Error Reports that said "Error Condition Detected." But they do not keep appearing as they did before. My main problem is gone. I do not get the Statistical Submissions Reports. I was getting countless reports being sent every day; I lost count. I requested not to be a part of Norton Watch, and I am unsure if that had anything to do with the Statistical Submissions Reports.
I am content with how Norton is running now, and I hope this will help others. Please feel free to leave any comments that may help me or others with this problem.
Thanks for your input. Do you also get Error Reports that say "Error Condition Detected" then list multiple files that say error, and under severity says "High"? That and all the reports going out suggest that Norton could be compromised.
I do think I fixed it. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and I got the same thing. I then noticed some other Norton programs, such as Password Manager. I deleted all the Norton apps I found. I went to the website and got the most current ver of Norton 360. When I uninstalled it, I did NOT save any settings for a future installment. A clean install, and I did it on my admin. Login before it was on my limited login. It has been two days, and so far, so good—no reports, no errors, and a log that doesn't stress me out. I'll let you know if it holds up.
I read that article and others, but they seem to be addressing only a few submissions, not hundreds. So is it normal to get 100-200 submissions on different items all at once? What about the multiple high severity Error Reports? You only replied with a link to an article I already read. Maybe the answer is the article, but I still do not understand. Can someone thoroughly explain this in layman's terms? After reinstalling Norton, I am continuously getting Community Watch submissions and high severity Error Reports again. This does not sound like a false positive as your link suggests.
I am now getting about 40 Norton Community Watch Feedback submissions and Three Norton Error Reporting Submissions. Two Error reports say High Severity Error Condition Detected and list 4 to 5 Error Files on each. This sounds serious, and something is compromising the Norton program. I just did a reinstall, so something with my computer seems to be the cause. What should I do?
