I am being redirected to another search engine when I do a Google or Yahoo search. How can I stop this? I have scanned and scanned for viruses. And it says new risks found and removed. I dont know how to tell if there is a virus somewhere on my computer. If that makes any sense. I need help please!!!
Hi Jeninne,
Welcome to Norton Community!
For time being, I would suggest to try to run Norton Power Eraser tool :
http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/DIY/index.jsp
Check if it detects any threats and if it does, please provide us the filename and other details. Don't fix any files now, you can fix those after getting confirmation in this thread. You can also try to run a full system scan by booting into safe mode.

thank you. I just did that right now and it showed no virus of any kind. Is there a way that this virus is hiding. I read that it is a virus that is redirecting me.
if you are unsure if you have a virus you can try to take into computer tech to see if they can find one. if your search engine is actually your home page try to type in the search engine address in your browser address bar, then do a search and see if you get redirected if you don't then they changed your home page. If you are using IE browser to surf and have windows 7 try using the IE browser without addons (easy way to find it is using your search.... hit your start button then type in the search bar internet explorer.... you will see 2 options one normal and one without addons) As they sometimes redirect you through a addon.
What search engine does it direct you to? Do you have a default search engine set? If you click in the searchbar options, top right hand corner of IE8, it should tell you what the default is.
I had Google as the default.... And it would send me to flurrysearch. And a few others. We took Google bar off And don't use it now And I am happy with that. But I feel I probably have some virus on here. I read up on it online And seems that quite a few people had this virus.
