I want to stop using up space on my Local Disc C: for my backups. I am planning on purchasing an external hard drive soon. Once I have an external hard drive, I want to store my backups there. However, I no longer wish to have space used on my Local Disc C: for prior backups. Matter of fact, I want to free up the space I used on my Local Disc C: for prior backups. Currently my Local Disc C: is 100% used with 0% free space. By sending my backups to an external hard drive, I'll be able to increase the free space on my Local Disc C: However, how do I do this? If I successfully redirect where my future computer backups are stored then my old backups are still taking space on my Local Disc C: What do I do to delete the use of all that space on my Local Disc C: from my prior computer backups? If I can accomplish this then I can increase the size of free space on my Local Disc C: I also will probably speed up my computer's performance. And if I am really lucky then perhaps I'll be in a better position to run a hard disc defragmentation process.
I haven't done this before. So, I need your assistance. If this process is easy then I plan on purchasing an external hard drive soon. Thanks.
