I need help because I have problem with NAT I first had the prob since I upgraded my NMS and it informed me that my 90 day subscription has expired for NAT then, I tried uinstalling it, and I cant, I have tried doing by force stopping NAT then clear out the data then uninstall, but nothing happens and error cannot uninstall, then restart, I have tried doing a couple of times but still the problem exist, I tried reinstalling using the previous NAT i have since I kept my installer for the andriod still didnt work, I reinstall the latest version but still failed. I need Help PLEASE.
My first suggestion would be to uninstall NMS and then try uninstalling NAT. You should have no problem reinstalling NMS whether you got it from the Market or from the Norton Servers (which I think is the situation in your case).
The above however is focused on removing NAT, but as you have a valid version of NMS you should be entitled to the NAT plugin free! So you might prefer to just contact Norton Live Chat (which is free and normally very good) via this link to see if they can solve the issue of subscription on NAT. Just scroll down to "Chat Now" click on that link and then go through to a Norton Staff member who should be able to sort out the subscription issue. The big catch is - this may involve uninstalling NAT and reinstalling it. So you may just like to try the first idea and see what happens.
Good luck and please do keep us informed so that we know what works and what does not.
Thank you for the insight you provided, I will try doing that but I have tried already uninstalling Norton Mobile Security however I reinstalled it back before uninstallaling Norton Anti-theft. you are right that I have a subscription right from Norton it self and not from the market. The error I have when I tried to reactivating Norton Anti-theft is that it is registered to another account but I know that I have it correct at the Norton account I created. I logged in to Antitheft.norton.com site to check and my phone was there so I removed it. There are acctually alot of issues. My antitheft is registered to a different account which I did not, second is that It is that I cant uninstall it. I think the problem was when I upgraded my NMS to a higher version it seams that my NAT was currupted but I'm not sure. I'll update once Im done trying this options you give me. Norton is a good product and I know there might be something I missed thats why I have this problem. Thanks for the help.
"When something bad happens. you have three choices. You can either let it define you. let it destroy you or you let it strengthen you"
NAT is listed as one of the device administrators which prevents the app uninstallation. This setting can be modified through Settings --> Location and security -->"Select device administrators" in you phone. Please try uninstalling NAT after removing "Norton Anti-Theft" from the list of adminstrators. Do let us know if this helps.
Thanks for that very interesting suggestion. I had not been aware of NAT being set as a device administrator. I have just looked at my "Device Administrators" and find NAT is named but the box is not ticked. Is the setting of NAT as a device administrator a new thing and is there an option about setting it or not, that I was not aware about?
I have already was able to remove the NAT my self without going to live support and before I was able to read this, I was checking my phone that time and I notice that NAT was present on my Device Administrators which I did remove and was successfully uninstalled but I do want to thank you for sharing this to others, I will try reinstalling NAT back at a later time to check if installing it again through NMS to call the NAT from the Andriod Market and hope would fix the issue that show that my NAT is registered to another Norton account. I'll take this as a resolution to the first problem. Thank you again
Thanks for reminding us of that thread smithy. I must admit that I had forgotten it.
However trijimon_p_r seemed to be suggesting that NAT was actually a "Device Administrator" in certain circumstances and this was why it was proving impossible for Jkrailee to uninstall it. The thread you refer to points out that although NAT will appear in the Device Administrator list it should not be activated unless Jkrailee had deliberately gone in and activated it. Which seems unlikely. So I remain puzzled as to whether this is the problem or not and if it is how it came to be set.
But then I may just have to remain puzzled........
I have successfully removed the NAT and tried installing it back again, as what was suggested I keep in mind that the NAT plugin through Android still have an error when I reinstall it back that my NAT is Registered to another Norton Account thus I may really need to contact LIVE chat so they can fix my issue, so far I have read few threads that has same issue like this. I am hoping that this case would be resolve to not unless NAT is a separate Subscription and that I would need to buy it which I think I am not able to at least for now. Hoping that NMS can have NAT as a free plug in.. I may need to create a new thread for this I think since the issue is resolved for the initial issue. What do you think guys?
I am glad that your original problem seems to have been solved. Though I remain puzzled as to how the Device Administrator option appears to have become live.
If you are now having a problem of the NAT element being shown as Registered to another account I would suggest that you have a look at one of the threads about that, such as this one. If you do decide to contact Norton Live Chat do not forget to have your original purchase details for NMS to hand as I am sure they will need that.
Sorry about the delay in responding to your query. After installation in an Android device, NAT is listed as one of the device administrators. However, it is not enabled by default, a user would have to manually activate NAT as a device administrator. Also, except for the restriction with NAT uninstallation, all other features will remain the same in both cases.
Everything was taken care of by live chat they provided me a new set of product key. I was suggested to uninstal my NMS installed back then reinstalled Norton Anti theft . Everthing now runs ok now and back to normal. I am pleased that everything is in good shape now and thanks for your help and to the Tech guys who strive hard for protecting us against threats. So case close.
2 - Change the Device Administrator setting so that NAT does not have Device Administrator powers and then uninstall NAT......
You comments seem to imply that it was 1 but you have marked the post that contained 2 as being the solution which seems odd. Sorry to ask you this late question but it may help if others have a similar problem.
I'm sorry it took this long to reply, as I remember it was simple. We uinstalled NAT and NMS then they provided me another set of product key then installed the product back and it was all fine with Nat, I registered it again and everything went well.
When I have uninstalled NAT and reinstall it back I think it only does it at the first installation that NAT became a system admin, when I reinstalled it, its no longer the system admin and need to add it again. I dunno why it did not inform me to set it as admin during my reinstallation.
So for the problem about uninstalling NAT I think that the first installation it will inform you that it will be a system admin and if you need to remove it, we need to remove it out from the system admin so we can remove it.
Thanks for coming back to tell us how it went Jkrailee.
You may be right about the system admin but yours is the only case I have heard of, so it appears to be the exception rather than the rule. Still good to hear, and it may well help others.
