I have a problem setting up OnlineFamily.Norton

‘kwokstep’ exactly explains what I get also.  I would suspect a firewall block or something security related, but I do not know.  I hope to get further help with this (before my children grow to adulthood).

Hi kwokstep and jgehrke,

I would be more than happy to setup a remote desktop access and work together with you on this.  You're welcome to send me a private message or an email for details.  You can find my email address at http://community.norton.com/norton/profile?user.id=15038

I thought that I had setup y OnlineFamily.Norton correctly and it did work at first but now it is saying that my email is not correct when I try to disable it or uninstall it but when I get messages from Norton it goes to the email that I'm using.  How do I uninstall it in this case?

Hi lori-carrico,

Are you able to log onto the OnlineFamily account using your email and password at https://onlinefamily.norton.com/familysafety/loginStart.fs?

If you log onto a PC with Norton Safety Minder installed as a child, do you see a active Norton Safety Minder icon (not dimmed, or with a red X on it), a dog paw in the system tray?

I will be always available if you are interested in a remote desktop access and I can walk you through the whole process.  You're welcome to send me a private message or an email for details.  You can find my email

address at http://community.norton.com/norton/profile?user.id=15038

Thanks,

Katie

Hi

I have an issue in that I can't access my account because the email addresss I entered was incorrect and as such I am also unable to get a password reminder.

Is there a way to remove the previous child minder app so that that I can re-install it with a the correct account details?

Thank you for your help.

Regards

Simon

Hi simno6,

Please remove the network cable to uninstall Norton Safety Minder first, then reinstall the program.  For details, please read the post at

I inadvertently created a username and password on the OnlineFamily.Norton website before my husband figured out how to send me an invitation.  So when I received the invitation and clicked accept, naturally I just logged in instead of clicking Get Started, however, no one in my family shows up under the activity screen.  Is it because I haven't downloaded the safety minder? I didn't think I had to do that in order to view the activity on a computer that my child does NOT use.  So I thought what if I logout and then click the Get Started button.  Instead it gave me a message that the process was halted because I had already accepted the invitation. I'm getting extremely frustrated that I can't seem to access the activity page unless my husband logs on it at night and shows me. I am getting the email alerts, but that is not helpful to me.  I prefer to be able to go to the website and view the activity list.  If someone could please reply and let me know what I'm doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

H truthandvirtue,

Thanks for the detailed information.

>>your message: when I received the invitation and clicked accept, naturally I just logged in instead of clicking Get Started

What you need to do is to click the "I Accept" link in the invited email that you received (please see the screen shot below),which brings you to the main website page, where you click on the GET STARTED button and register to the existing account.

>>Your message: Is it because I haven't downloaded the safety minder? I didn't think I had to do that

You don't need to download Norton Safety Minder on the PC which is for the parents.

Thanks,

Katie

Thanks for the quick reply, however, that didn't help either. I clicked on I accept in my email, clicked the Get Started button on the website and filled in the information.  However, when I clicked on submit, it gave me the following message:

This email address has been already registered with Norton Account. Click Cancel registration and log on with this email address and your Norton Account password.

So I did as it requested. It logged me in, but as I stated before, when I click on view activity there is nothing listed. It's as if my email address is not associated with my husband's account.  Getting seriously frustrated.....

Any further assistance would be Greatly Appreciated.

truthandvirtue,

Since you have created an onlinefamily account with the email address, please use the Invite feature to invite a new email address, like a free yahoo account and follow the steps again.  It should allow you to connect to the exiting OnlineFamily account.

Thanks,

Katie

I have tried to install OnlineFamily.Norton on a Laptop & a desktop with Windows 7 without success. I had it running OK on both machines under XP (32 bit & 64 bit). The laptop is 32 bit and desktop 64 bit, when I try to install the software asks for my e-mail address and try to validate my credentials, but this never completes and I have to end the process forcibly. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing on both machines many times without any change - please advise!

Hi, no dice same problem, e-mail address is recognised on the existing account, but once the password is entered it hangs....

The command completed successfully.

Last night I was trying to download the stuff for online family minder. It first told me that It detected other Norton software that needed to be uninstalled first. After doing so, I tried again it allowed me to set up and enter my childs info than password than I got a pop up that stated I was running an " Internet Explorer or Firefox? that needed to be closed first" Than it logged me off, when I returned again it said I did not completed and tried to re download only for it to tell me that it was uninstalling. Please help as now I do not have any firewall on my system.
Thanx
Jennifer

H Jaylennt1,

I guess you received the popup is the one as below.  If so, that's ok and you have finished installing Norton Safety Minder on the PC.  It's just a warning message.  Please restart the computer.

Thanks,

Katie
