there is a task bar and menu, but haven't transferred in terenet over yet until I know what i have to do!

no looks like there are no programs available when I hit all programs it comes up empty - would that change once i connected the internet back up?

You have to start the PC into safe Mode with networking and it will connect to the internet  then you just open IE like people do when they only have 1 computer.

I am telling you what to do. and you have not done so. as you are not connected to the internet in Safe Mode with Networking.  You can't just plug it in after starting the PC most of the time as Windows will be stuck with it's own internal IP address.

How do you think people like myself get around this FakeHDD with only on PC??

You could always take it to a PC repair place.

but I did as you said starting it in safe mode with networking

I'm not sure why you are being so aggressive?  and what is Fake HDD?

This is what I said

How can you test that if you have not connected the cable just to test?? I will be like testing if the car starts without a battery connected.

The FakeHDD will also disable various menu items from appearing on the Windows Start Menu. To add these items back, please right-click on the Start button and select Properties. The start button for Windows XP looks like Windows XP Start Button and the Windows Vista and Windows 7 start button looks like Windows 7 Start Button. You will now be at the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties screen. Select the Start Menu tab and then click on the Customize button. If in Windows XP, you will now need to click on the Advanced tab. You will now be presented with a variety of menus and shortcuts that can be added back to the Windows Start Menu. Please select the various items you would like to add and then click on the OK button. Then press the Apply button and close the Start Menu properties screen.

The likes of Internet Explorer, My Comuter, etc will re appear on the desktop.

I am trying to get you to do as I ask, which you haven't done so.   If and when I use more dangerous and advanced programs (at this point I probably won't)   If you don't do as I ask, you could end up with the worst case windows not loading

You are infected with a FakeHDD that is what you have,  I am able to infect my PC with what you have and remove it, and also know what could be in behind.

just from my end if you can understand...how was I to know what to do after stating in safe mode and networking if i was on my other computer with no connection to you? I need to know more steps as i will no longer have any communication with you

ie once connected i need to get back to this site? right? which is not in the instructions you gave me!

In Safe Mode with Networking 9and the Cable is connected  people with only 1 PC can keep communicating using Internet Explorer in Safe Mode with Net.

You won't have any more communication  if you don't plug the cable in, like not being able to turn on your PC but you have not plugged the power cable in.

I am about to say BYE, as you are not following each instruction,

Why do you think I asked once in Safe Mode with Network can the internet  connect???

I infect my PC with much tougher malware than what you have, I hope you don't get those ones.

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate your help - but you realise had i not known the next step ie right clicking on start menu and enabling internet explorer - I would not have known what to do - I am here now on my infected computer

I am being extra careful not to stuff anything up....

So you are typing on this forum in Internet Explorer, your user account on the Infected PC??

Quads

yes that is correct

Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.

We may yet have to do this with a program without Windows loading as something is Blocking Programs from running etc. But we will try and log with this,

a)  Download OTL   hxxp://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe   (change the hxxp to http) save it to your Desktop.  In Safe Mode if Need be.

Restart the Computer into Normal Mode

Double click on OTL.exe to run it.  Right click OTL.exe and select run as administator for Vista and Win 7.

Click the Scan All Users checkbox.

Change file age to 60 days

Press the

An OTL.txt will be created. Attach it back here to a message
