Which version of the Windows operating system are you using? XP, Vista, Win 7 or Win8 or Win8.1 Also check what service pack is installed. The different OSs can have different solutions to a problem.
You can get this information by clicking on the start menu and typing "winver" in the search box(without the quotes)

There are some compatibility issues with the latest version of Chrome. It is not yet officially supported by Norton as there were some significant changes in the way Chrome handles 3rd party extensions.
You may also have some corruption in your copy of Norton that could be fixed by running the Norton Removal and Reinstall tool. Download and run it from www.norton.com/nrnr
