I keep getting the "Norton has stopped working" message, with norton endlessly restarting and crashing.
I have just done a clean install of windows 7. Literally the only thing I have installed on this computer is Norton 360.
Everything was working great at first. I did about 10 or so restarts after downlading windows 7 updates and Norton Live updates.
Then suddenly after the most recent update Norton has been crashing, as well as my AMD catalyst software, Internet Explorer also crashes, and so do certain windows (like for example when I right click on "my computer" to get information about it).
Everything was working flawlessly until this final update. I have tried multiple things suggested to me with no results.
I have done a complete scan of the hard drive to check for partition errors or a faulty drive, I have disabled all start up programs and run in safe mode and did a complete computer scan. I have used Norton Power Eraser to remove all Norton software and reinstalled it all. I have tried running these programs in different compatibility modes.
I'm still at square 1, no changes, no improvements. The strange thing is that if I leave Norton 360 alone it runs just fine, it only crashes when I double click it to open it. For some reason I am able to for example right click on the icon and run things like virus scans and updates and everything else, but if I double click it, or right click and choose the top option ( I forget what its called at the moment but it expands the view of the program.) THAT is when it crashes and give me the "Norton has stopped working" message and opens up again.
Does anybody have any idea's on what this is? I have a feeling it was because of the most recent update.
