I must send my Laptop out for repair what should I do first to protect my information

What should I do before I send my laptop to for repair so my information can’t be viewed.

@GeorgeWRichards_Jr What is the repair you are having done? Warranty back the the OEM, local shop?

The display screen is separating at the lower right corner near the hinge.

Warrenty repair via ASURION must drop off to UPS store

Oh thank you. Do the following as a suggestion:
-Make sure you have a secure login to get into Windows. The repair person DOES NOT need to log into your device to validate the screen repair works. I have done hundreds of these replacements. They can get to the BIOS default screen on their own. If that works the repair is good. If they insist find another repair shop, they are not professional nor ethical.

-Backup and/or make a system image of your boot drive before sending this out. Just in case. I use Macrium Reflect on all my devices.

Edited: Make sure the backup/image goes to an external, removable drive. Such as a high capacity USB device.
