I purchased additional storage but still could not perform a backup. Still, 0 storage available

Seriously, the Norton tech said that the new 10GB went to reimburse Norton. His remedy: delete old backups and/or purchase even more storage. I am totally confused.

 

We have two computers. I purchased 10 additional GBs yesterday evening, but immediately received the same error message: 0 storage available. This morning I called support. After taking control of my computer after examining my account, the tech finally concluded that the additional 10 GB I had purchased had been used to reimburse Norton, which had been giving me free storage all along. This, without informing me (and others) of this generous policy. That seemed incredulous. I even told him so, and that I was going to officially complain. But it's still possible that there is something I don't understand.
