The errors you note seem to indicate some file corruption in the files required by Norton.
Start by clearing your Windows Temp files. Then look for Windows/Prefetch folder and delete all files there. These files are used to help load programs quickly. They will be recreated when you restart your computer. Then run LiveUpdate.
Now reboot your computer. It may take a little longer to start this time as the Prefetch files are recreated.
If this does not help, there are some more steps to try.
