I saw this question in another thread: Why don't you want to uninstall/reinstall NIS...

...or words to that effect.

I don't know who from Symantec/Norton monitors this forum, but here goes my answer (I suspect the decesion to expend the time/cost and expertise required to resolve this problem resides with people higher up the food chain and in another department than the customer support people who are probably here):

Because it's a big pain in the neck and wastes my time!!!

1) The NRT uninstalls all Symantec progams, not just the one with the problem.

2) Even with the automatic reinstall feature NRT does not reinstall the other programs.

3) Some (if not all) of the other Symantec programs have to be reinstalled before NIS or you get to start all over.

4) All of the above wastes my valuable time that I could be using for something else (even if it's just a nap).
