Over the years I have built up some passwords to various web sites on my desktop Windows 11 Home computer and the Chrome extension, where there are multiple options for the same website, but only one of them is current. An example might be that I have 5 options for the same XYZ web site, each with a different password, but only one of them will actually get me into the site. How do I delete the outdated ones that do not work anymore. I have searched and searched for a “delete” or trashcan and have not found one.
Steps to Delete Logins:
- Browser Extension (Desktop):
- Click the Norton Password Manager extension icon in your browser toolbar.
- Click Open Web App.
- Go to the Logins tab and find the entry you want to remove.
- Click the Delete icon (often represented by a trash can) associated with that entry.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deleting Outdated Entries in Norton Password Manager
Cleaning up multiple saved logins for a single site like “XYZ” in Norton Password Manager (NPM) requires going “inside” each specific entry. The “Delete” button is tucked away on the editing screen to prevent you from accidentally wiping out your passwords.
Here is the step-by-step guide to finding and removing those outdated credentials using your Chrome extension on Windows 11.
1. Open your Norton Password Manager Vault
- Click the Norton Password Manager icon in your Chrome toolbar.
- Enter your Vault Password to unlock it.
- Click on Open Vault (the button at the bottom of the pop-up) to open the manager in a full browser tab. This is much easier for managing duplicates than using the small pop-up window.
2. Locate the “XYZ” Website
- Use the Search bar at the top of your vault and type the name of the website.
- You will see all the different saved versions for that site listed.
3. Access the “Delete” Button
- Hover your mouse over the specific entry you want to delete.
- Look for the Pencil Icon (Edit) on the right side of that entry and click it.
- A new “Edit Login” window will appear. Look at the bottom-left corner of that specific window; you should see a Delete button (often in red text or next to the ‘Save’ button).
4. Confirm Deletion
- Norton will ask for confirmation to ensure you want to permanently remove this login. Confirm the action, and that specific outdated entry will be gone.
Alternative: Using the Web Vault
If the extension is giving you trouble, you can manage your passwords directly through the Norton website:
- Go to https://my.norton.com/extspa/passwordmanager and sign in.
- Find the “XYZ” entries in your list.
- Click on the entry you want to remove.
- Click the Delete button found at the bottom of the login details panel.
Pro-Tip: Confirm the “Current” One First
Before deleting, click the eye icon in the password field of each entry to reveal the password. This allows you to verify which one is your active password so you don’t accidentally delete the only one that works!
Hello @Scott_Law
Care to share your progress
Thank you. I was not noticing the “Open Web Apps” at the bottom of that window. Then I was able to find the delete button and delete all those duplicates.
Thanks again
Thanks. The Open Web apps step is what I had missed. Thank for your help.
Glad we could help.
