Any news from the Symantec folks on the filling in extra fields behavior? I’m still seeing the issue. It’s just an annoyance but it’d be handy if it were gone. Are more examples needed?

It's not happening on all sites. As an example, it's prefilling my userID in for the "Search Email" textbox on my Comcast Webmail page.
It was also filling in extra fields here in the community pages. As a test, I deleted all the Identity Safe logins for the community & added them back. The problem appears to be gone here.
I'll perform the same test on my Comcast pages & see if that's all it takes to correct it.
Whatever I find & can't fix this way, I'll provide as additional examples.
The problem seems very limited currently. I still have the spare fill-in in the Comcast webmail page and I have it in DomainDirect's email forward admin page, but that's about it in the pages I've tested in the last couple days.
I'm assuming if it were a widespread problem, there'd be more activity on this thread than there is. Since it's so limited and the extra fill-in's are easily spotted, I'm not going to worry about it any longer. I'll just clear away the superfluous stuff if it gets in the way.
I’m still having this problem on a bunch of sites using both Firefox and IE7. Usually it is filling in my user name in an email field. Right now I’m checking out on Newegg and it’s filling in my sign on info ( email address ) and password in the claim code and security code gift certificate fields. Even if I clear those fields it fills them back in. The only way to get it to go through is log off Identity Safe.

I am using FF3 and Norton 15.5 as well and having the same issues.
As an example I deal with email lists on constant contact. When I go into look at contacts information Norton keeps filling in my information on their profile. Under "settings" "identity cards" I've said "show me my cards and offer" and have also tried "I will manually select"... either way it automatically fills in my information... I don't want this... I only want it to fill in my card info if I select a card manually.
ALSO
Many website I go to, with the same URL, it fills me my userid and password (because it knows it from my log-ins) AND after its signed me in, it asks if it should save the password .... when it already has it.
Just wanted to update my previous Email about Nortons toolbar:

I got the latest update from Firefox: 3.0.1 and after rebooting Nortons toolbar is back.
Of course don't know if it was the FF3 update or some constant updates from Norton that finally switch the Norton Toolbar back on, or a combination of both - but never the less it is back on.
I did nothing special like totally uninstalling FireFox, except of course install Norton IS2008 15.5.0.23 (which I had done previously).
I’m still having this issue as well. Very annoying I must say. And also, deleting authentication information to the specific web-site (this one, for example) with following readding auth information to the Identity Safe doesn’t solve the problem.
Any update on this issue? Is it being worked on?
The problem still exists and no word from Symantec nor any solution via Live Update 
As I continue playing around with this, I'm now noticing the behavior that a few others have reported where Identity Safe keeps asking to save data it's already saved (at least from my point of view, it's saved it.) The expected behavior also gets "muddy" with some sites that store login info in cookies. Since I don't use Identity Safe as my main password repository (which I'm pretty happy about right now 
) I've killed off every Identity Safe login I had & will start fresh to see if any kind of pattern emerges. Maybe I'll kill off the cookies for a couple of the sites that Identity Safe can no longer handle correctly & see how that affects the behavior.
Has anyone seen a release date for NIS 2009? Maybe things work better with the changes made in the new release.

if I may ask - is this identity safe behavior being treated by Symantec as an ‘Option’ as the thread title suggests, or do we agree that this is a very annoying bug which should be fixed soon?

I stopped using Identity Safe all together. The bug is just too annoying.
And still no reply from Synmatec... Meanwhile this bug is getting real annoying.
Can we hope this "auto fill option" will be ridden of soon?

Are you referring to the original post you made, that Identity Safe is auto-filling in wrong places? I've only noticed one URL posted by you about this issue, which is the "User Profile" section of this website. If you have more sites, please post the FULL URL of the site where you experience this problem. Also, a screenshot would be helpful so we can identify the problem more clearly. Thanks!
I can't figure out how to give you a screen shot showing that the Norton has already signed me in (filled in the userid and the password on its own), but then brings up the "Save your Login?" box. Once this box has popped up it will not allow me to do a print screen or a print etc.

I have more sites where this behavior shows up, but most of them are russian websites, so I don't know if this information will be useful. If it will be, I'll post links and screenshots.
For now, I found that GameSpot.com also affected by this behavior. When logged in, I went to "prefs" (http://www.gamespot.com/pages/preferences/aboutme.php?tag=login;prefs) and got following situation - Identity Safe filled Email and PS3 Online ID with my e-mail address (e-mail addresses are used as logins at GameSpot.com) and chose "United States" in Country drop-down list. For me, it's ok with Email field (although I'm not sure it should be autofilled elsewhere except login page), but I never chose United States as country to fill in and I never entered my PS3 Online ID. Screenshot is below.
P.S. A little update. When I logged out at GameSpot.com and tried to log in once again using Identity Safe, it asked me if I want to save login and password, though it's already saved in Identity Safe.

I am also using IE7 and have the same problem with Identity Safe. I just quit using it. From looking at the posts, it doesn’t appear that Norton is doing anything to remedy the situation.
