Identity Safe Data File

I see that NIS 2009 allows me to backup my Identity Safe data to a file that I name and specify the location of...  Does this file get updated when new passwords, etc. are added to the Identity Safe?  Or do I need to go and do a manual backup periodically?

 

A follow-up question:  Is there a file somewhere that DOES get backed up automatically with new data added to the Identity Safe?
