Often when I open a new web page and use my mouse wheel to scroll down, the page will go black and a box appears saying that I E is trying to reconnect me to the page.
This can only be stopped by opening the Identity Safe Vault. But this is a pain as if the vault is open all of the time it will try to fill in boxes I don’t wish it to.
I believe I have found a solution under the heading:
Re: Bug: IE9 - Identity Safe 'Open Vault' prompt blackens out current web page
Where the solution is as follows:
- 1. Open IE9 and click Tools > Internet Options.
- 2. Click the Advanced tab.
- 3. Under 'Accelerated graphics', tick the checkbox that says 'Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering*' and click OK.
- 4. As this setting change requires a browser restart in order to take effect, close all open instances of IE9.
- 5. Open IE9 and visit the Norton Community Registration link again to confirm whether or not the issue has been fixed.
But before making this change I have a couple of questions I would like to ask:
1 Is this safe to do this and what is the downside of doing it?
2 Is the black screen problem a Norton or an IE9 problem and which of them should be fixing it?
3 Will either of them fix it any time soon?
I would have asked these questions on the post itself but unfortunately the reply button is shown in pale pink and is not clickable.
Why is this?
Apologies for all of the questions, but I’m new to this forum and can’t quite work it out as yet.
