I let my subscription to NIS 2009 expire because I now have Symantec Endpoint Protection provided by my employer. I didn't copy my saved logins from Identity Safe before my subscription expired because I thought I could do so afterwards. When my subscription expired today I opened NIS and the only thing it will let me do is renew my subscription. Is there any way to recover my passwords without renewing my subscription for a whole year?
Have you checked to see if there is an Identity Safe component in Endpoint? I looked at the product information but I'm not seeing anything. I also suspect that while they may have something similar, the encryption may be different. The products themselves are quite different.
Yes, you can recover your saved Identity Safe data. The instructions are here, although the Engine number may now be 16.5.0.135 rather than 16.0.2.7 as shown in step 1.

For all I know it's not on there. Ipersonally never found it.
I let my NIS 2008 expire because I did not plan on renewing my subscription for this computer. I have a new laptop and was not sure if I renewed could it be used on both computers or transferred to the laptop if I renewed on the desktop. The desktop is having some problems, it is about 5 or so years old, and I figured once i had everything transferred to the laptop I would just reset the whole computer and start from scratch...(but the transfer cable is not working right...yeah...I know different forum/manufacturer/problem)
Regardless, NIS 2008 expired yesterday, today I went to log onto a website I use quite regularly and was shocked when Identity Safe did not supply my username and password for the site. I looked at the top of the webpage and noticed there is not even an option for me to sign into Identity Safe nor can I gain access to my passwords. I tried following the directions supplied below for NIS 2009 but I do not have an "Engine" folder.
I have already made a complaint, not that I think anyone from Norton will do anything but is this status quo? If you do not renew your subscription in time they hold your usernames and passwords hostage? How do I get them back? This is really quite frustrating! They are my information, NOT Norton's!
OMG! Thank you soooo much! It worked! I am by no means a computer person so it took me awhile to figure out the whole CSV file thing…but now I have my passwords.
