I had to re-install windows after a crash. The install made a copy of my data in Windows.OLD and I can locate the original ID Safe files there. I tried following the instructions here: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Recovery-after-complete-reinstallation-of-Windows-and-software/td-p/773222.
However, the file names in the old folder are IDDStor2.dat and IDDStor2.dat.bak and the files that ID Safe creates are IDDStore.dat and IDDStore.dat.bak. I tried to rename the files, but when I try to log into ID Safe, it says I have the wrong password and then replaces the IDDStore.dat file with an empty one. If I leave them with the original names and simply remove the IDDStore files, it does not see the files there and wants me to setup ID Safe again from scratch. I have no idea how I ended up with IDDStor2 names on the files or how to get ID Safe to use a different file name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, I forgot the bits: Win 7 (old install 32 bit, new install 64 bit), Norton 360 5.2.
Thanks,
