Identiy Safe Maintenance

2 PC's both with NIS 19.5.0.145 & WIndows 7 Professional SP1 (64-bit). One shows Identiy Safe Maintenance runs on battery power & the other one doesn't. I not sure which is right or wrong, but is really doesn't matter to me. (even the spelling)T500 Norton Tasks.pngHP8440w Norton Tasks.png

Hi,

The battery settings are for laptops. Some functions are disabled while on battery to allow maximum usage. As soon as the AC power is restored these functions are again active. If you are running a desktop, always on AC power, they make no difference in the operation of your product.

Hi, dickevans. Thanks for your reply. Both PC's are laptops (ThinkPad T500 & HP EliteBook 8440w). Both NIS upgrades were installed on AC Power with fully charged batteries connected. I was just curious as to why both are different.

Hi,

The only answer that comes to mind is a 'smart' one - because they are different computers? Maybe not the correct answer but then again, maybe. They are from different manufacturers so there may be some slight differences in the way Norton installs or reacts to the information provided by the computer itself.

This may not help but it's the best I can do on short notice :smileywink:

What kind of information does Identiy Safe Maintenance send to Symantec?

What exactly does this task do?

Thanks,

Open Help > Norton Tasks

Identity Safe Maintenance

Performs background maintenance tasks related to Identity Safe. Tasks include sending Identity Safe profile statistics and downloading the favorite icons.

btw: Norton Tasks initially displayed the battery icon next to Identity Safe Maintenance & now, no battery icon.

19.5 was installed on external pwr.  Battery not installed.  Power Saving Mode

At some point since 19.5 update.  Norton found no battery installed.  I guess?

Why would Identiy Safe Maintenance run for 33 minutes if it is just to gather profile information?
