Idle Quick Scans not so quick.

Hi there,

I was having a look through the Full History on NIS 2011, and noticed that NIS 2011 had performed an Idle Quick Scan (which is good, I like NIS 2011 for that!)

But I then noticed that the time it took to complete the scan was over double the time it usually takes to complete an Idle Quick Scan!

Ever since installing NIS 2011, it would take between 25-35 seconds to complete an Idle Quick Scan.  Today (2nd August, 2011), NIS 2011 took 1 min 35 s to complete an Idle Quick Scan.

Now, my router lights were flashing like crazy when I was using FireFox; I eventually found out that my son had left a download open (a Linux .ISO image) from the previous night and had not only forgotten to cancel the download but turned the PC off completely.

NIS 2011 had performed an Idle Quick Scan whilst I was trying to figure out the cause of this mysterious download - could this have affected the time to complete the Idle Quick Scan?

After cancelling the download, I cleared the cache using CCleaner and then performed a Quick Scan manually - it took 1 min and 30 s to complete.

I turned the PC off and left it for a half-hour and turned it on again - I'm just waiting for it to do another Idle Quick Scan to see how long it takes.

The interesting thing is that the figures for the files scanned, skipped files etc are near enough the same (give or take a few), so why should the Idle Quick Scan take double the time to complete now, than it usually does?

Thanks for any help,
