If that was the adware.gen detection, try excluding the other (.rar) detection. Adware.gen may be appearing as a registry entry and so would not be eliminated by excluding a file. We'll deal with it later. For now simply exclude the specific compressed file that Norton is alerting to, and see if that solves the file exclusion issue. Also, check the Scan Results entries in your Norton History. Clicking on an entry will show how many threats were detected in the Alert Detail pane. Clicking the "More Details" button will provide more clues. There is much we haven't answered, such as where adware.gen resides and what threat Norton thinks it has found in Library\Utils. I am suspecting that the two detections are reappearing for different reasons.
