Hopefully so! As a workaround, I created a scheduled Custom Scan that scans all of my files to run once a week. That won't impact the Idle Time Scan. But if Idle Time scanning handles that, no point in doing that, so just need clarification from the team!

I Hope NIS 09 Doesn't Do - Full Scans ... When the computer is idle 
That was one of the reasons I had to uninstall 360 v2 from my Desktop Computer.
The Number Of Scans 
Norton 360 v2
Some Days...
2 x Quick Scans
Some Days...
1 x Quick Scan
1x Full Scan
Some Days...
2 x Full Scan
And once in a blue moon...
0 x Scan
The trouble was... My computer was never truly idle 
Scans would either start while I was working.
OR...
Scans would start while I was actually using N360 v2 - e.g. ... For Clean Up!
OR...
That little Norton icon would pop up in the corner of my screen.
And it would stay there until I walked away for an hour ... So it could - Scan ... Either Quick or Full
Then to top it all off...
Half the time - I could see the scan results were completely wrong 
e.g.
No Tracking Cookies Found ... Even though I knew I had some.
OR
Tracing Cookies Found... But incorrectly shown as - NOT FIXED
OR
Full Scan... Registry Items Scanned - 0
So I just pray...
NIS 09 ... Idle scans - Really are idle scans
NOT... Norton owns your computer scans
I've heard many good things about - NIS 09 
So even though I've had 12 months of Hell, with Norton... I am willing to give Symantec one last chance this year 
I really do believe... Symantec could be the very best in Internet Security 
However!

Yeah, I see what you have done, but it isn’t meant to be this complicated. If idle time scans do a full system scan you can choose to leave that or set an alternate schedule. Still not sure if the idle time scans perform a full system scan, however.

For NIS 2009, quick scans are set to run via idle scanner every 3 days while full system scans are set to run via Idle scanner every 7 days. If at the scheduled time the system is not considered to meet idle requirements, the scan in question will run as soon as the system becomes idle. If a quick scan is running during idle and the system becomes active it will continue to run until completed. However, if a full system scan is running during idle and the system becomes active, the scan will be suspended until the system enters an idle state again at which time the scan will continue from where it left off.

We normally turn off the computer when not in use.
So does this mean, the computer will not get scanned at either quick or full? And if I want the computer scanned, I will have to do it manually?

After you get Virus Definitions, then the Norton Internet Security 2008 will automatically do a Quick Scan in the background, unless you have turn this Option off.
When using N.I.S. 2008, there is no Idle-Time Scanning, so, you will have to do a Full System Scan manually at least twice-a-week. Make sure you dis-connect from the Internet while is Scan is in Progress.

because when you are enabled to the internet your machine isn’t really idle. It is always conecting to the internet. So there is traffic

Stu, as far as I know background internet traffic will not cause a PC to be classed as active and come out of idle status. I will check on this but I'm pretty sure it's correct.

What I meant by that was that, if there is a Threat on your computer and Norton finds it, then, chances are, you may get re-infected again.

Un-less it is just my N.I.S. 2009, when you are connected to the Internet but you are not typing or moving the mouse, the Idle bar still goes up.

Thanks for the reply. I have never seen an 'idle bar' come up at any stage, and would still be surprised if this is caused simply by being connected to the internet.
Could you possibly provide a screen shot of this so we can look into it further?

Just want to make sure you know what I mean: Say you connect to the Internet and yor mouse or whatever is not moving, then the Idle bar will still move up. :)
Maybe you should try this to see if this happens with your N.I.S. 2009.

Click on Computer Usage
Across the middle of the screen starting from the left is a bar called "Idle Countdown." "Countdown" has too many syllables so someone has decided to rename it "Idle Bar." (Actually, I think the help menu refers to it as a "bar", too.)
It is as interesting as examining an Andy Warhol painting with a magnifying glass. (This is an old joke, any anyone who gets it probably won't admit it because it will show just how old they are.) When you get tired of this, try counting pixels on an LCD screen.
First off, congratulations Symantec on an excellent product release. Love when a product delivers on its promises! Now on to my question:
Left as installed, how often should a full scan take place during low utilization / idle time? I know it should do so when the computer isn't being used, but in my logs I only see quick scans being performed.
It's a good question..do idle time scans perform a full system scan? Not sure, but I would say no. However, if you do schedule full system scans it will override the idle time scanning schedule.
Maybe a Norton staffer can shed some light on this.
