IE8 turning off Norton Phishing Protection

there was already a thread on this topic, but it does not seem possible to add a message to that topic -- that's gripe no 1...

I am not so sanguine as the other posters about Phishing protection getting turned off, nor that it is a minor inconvenience, for which we can wait until IE8 beta is complete.

This solution was known in June . . . I reckon it is not a difficult fix . . . MS & Norton *ought* to be working together at a high priority to distribute a fix for this . . . I did not ask for IE8, MS downloaded it automatically . . . which I am not necessarily complaining about, but once a bug *like this* is known, it *should* be fixed, and not 6 months later either.

Norton should be an advocate for the user community, in their role as purveyors of security, to MS to have such bugs fixed ASAP . . . .and MOREOVER . . . this is obviously a hackers delight, an exposure available for exploitation . . . is it not clear that if starting an IE8 session turns off phishing-protection that that mechanism is available to any website that spawns new pages, leaving a gaping security lapse?
