My NIS 2012 engine is 19.9.0.9. My PC is a Vista Home Premium Edition (x32) with IE9. This problem began on 10/31/12.
When the Norton Vulnerability Protection add-on is disabled, everything runs fine.
When the Norton Vulnerability Protection add-on is enabled and I try to open IE9, I get a white screen and then a message saying, “Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close program and notify you if a solution is found”. When I click Close Program, a new message opens near the bottom of the screen: “Internet Explorer was closed. To protect your computer, Data Execution Prevention has closed Internet Explorer.”
Although I don’t remember all the details, I had a similar problem around 3/1/11. That one was caused by a bad NIS update and subsequently fixed with a corrective NIS update. http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/NIS-Intrusion-Protection-crashing-IE8/td-p/406950/page/8
Could this be happening again, or is something else going on here?
