Forget this post. Problem solved.
Good morning all.
Well, I did the restoral. Everything, so far, working great. Now the daunting task of getting files, etc. restored. Hopefully my off-site back-up will cooperate.
I want to thank everyone that responded to my post and provided invaluable information.
After I reinstalled NIS I was able to import all of my vault info. Once I found the right link on the flash drive, it took about 2 seconds and everything was there in the vault.
One other thing. Is there any way that I can mark this post as solved?
I can't thank you all enough.
Hope you all have a great day and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thanks for all the updates.

As the originator you should see a control to mark as solved on every message and so choose the one that you reckon contained the key solution and mark that as the solution.
I think it appears as a bar under the other bars bottom right of a message where it says Kudos ... Reply ?
If you really can't pin it down as one message I can only suggest posting a final message saying so and mark that as Solution. This sometimes upsets people who don't realize why sometimes it is the only way of letting people know on the Message Listing that there is a solution .....
Thank you Hugh. As always, I can count on the forums for great info.
My post has been solved.!!
We all enjoy the thrill of victory!
It appears Norton is fixed.
Hopefully the backup goes OK.
While I appreciate the SOLVED flag I really disagree since your problem was the procedure for safely carrying out a factory restore and I hope you will agree that that belongs to Peterweb with
You can unsolve my message in Options I think, and then apply the flag to that message.
If there's a problem in getting that done I can arrange it but I think it's more realistic if it's changed.
Hugh,
I agree with you, so I took it upon myself to remove the solved from your post and put it on peterweb’s post as you suggested.
I do not think boonsong will mind my doing it!
Thanks .... for leaving my unearned Kudos <g>
No I don't mind you moving my solved. Being new to this, I wasn't sure where to put it. If I could, I'd give the solved/kudos to all of you. You've all been a great help.
Glad to hear things are working out.
It was a group effort but thanks to those that feel I deserved some of the credit.

Hi boongsong,
Some addtional info you may find useful in the future.
As Hugh said:

I have seen in the past where it was a collective solution of numerous posts and suggestions that the original poster (OP)just summarized the procedure and marked that post as the solution. The whole idea is the OP asks the questions, others make suggestions to assist, and the OP marks the solution so that others who may have done a search seeking an answer, may see the question, then go to the solution and they get a good answer in a short period of time. Hope that explains things.
Boonsong,
YOU solved the problem by taking the most important step -- asking for help!
And you marked the problem as solved and thanked us all .... what more could we ask for?
Thanks Hugh. That'\s what I did - marked my reply as Solved because I didn't know who to give it to. Anyway, let me say that regardless of who gets the "solved", you all deserve it for all the good you do, not only for me, but for all the other "computer challenged" types like me. If I could, I'd give you al a share of the powerball jackpot when I win it (fat chance on me winning)
