So I was trying to access my Gmail but I made a typo and wrote a different web site and i checked my history to see what it was but nothing showed but the main reason I am here is because google chrome gave me a pop up telling me that it couldn't connect a secure connection so I closed the site then I ran a full Norton scan and it said I had no viruses but I factory reset my PC just to be safe but im still a little bit worried so could someone tell me if I did have a virus or if I still do thanks.
a factory reset is a last resort as if your device is having alot of problems ( errors, crashes etc..) it does not nor has it ever removed any malware, virus, trojan etc....... ( they would remain in memory)
if your norton is up todate and showed all clean than i would not be too concerned on a possible issue from your typo, altho it is possible , would seem the site was blocked in part or full by chrome
you can check your history ( next to live update in classic mode) and see if it submitted anything
If you have run a full scan and it comes out clean then you likely have no malware on your PC.
However, if you input your ID and password for Gmail on the fake site they may now have those credentials so you should change your password as soon as possible and also add 2 Factor authentication to your Google account.
If you did not enter any password or ID on the fake site then you probably have nothing to worry about.
