Im sure i have a virus however Norton is not finding it

Hi guys,

I am certain my computer is infected.

symptoms are as follows;

1. internet exploere regularly crashes, freezes ...particularly when i type in searches an enter certain URLs (particularly related to antivirus software)

2. Windows explorer regularly crashes...explorer windows lose the title bars (meaning one cannot click on the minimise or close buttons)

3. Scans on my system often cause the system to completely fall over with a blue screen crash...with different eroors...sometimes memory, sometimes cache, etc.

4. I installed a brand new ssd drive on my system about 1 week ago and just got it up and running yesterdy. After copying some non executable files across my home network from my old drive that is now setup as a slave in another computer, which i believe was infected originally (same problems arouse and progressively got worse and worse until i could even log into system), all of a sudden this morning i am now encountering the same problems all over again.

5. When i reinstalled my system from scratch...the infection was so bad it even got into my bios. I managed to reflash the bios after a lot of trouble using a USB flash utility prior to installing windows on the new ssd.

One of the scans that is of particular interest is the power eraser. When i run this scan, the computer has problems restarting (which is required for the scan)...usually a blue screen crash happens during the restart process...stuffing up the power eraser scan.

What am i to do?

I would really like to get to the bottom of this virus/malware (whatever it is) that is causing complete chaos with my system. Whoever wrote it has done a marvellous job obviously!

kind regards

adam

ps. I appreciate the likely advice saying...why on earth did you access your old drive again (even if over the network). The answer to that question...some of the files on the drive i really need in the rebuilding of my system.
